HOW PROTELLA® WAS BORN
The brand Protella® was born in 2017 as a response to the market's demand for chocolate products produced in a sustainable manner and fit for those individuals who are concerned about healthy eating habits.
After months of investigation with one of the most experts maître chocolatier in Spain, Jordi Mollar*, we developed a line of products with very distinguished tastes and quality.
*Jordi Mollar is a vital part of Panacella Factory. He comes from a family of chocolate makers since 1930. He managed for 15 years, the family company CHOCOLATES MOLLAR S.L., (20,000 tons/yr of chocolate).

WHAT WE STAND FOR
PALM OIL FREE:
According to the WWF: "Palm oil has been and continues to be a major driver of deforestation of some of the world’s most biodiverse forests, destroying the habitat of already endangered species like the Orangutan, pygmy elephant and Sumatran rhino. This forest loss coupled with conversion of carbon rich peat soils are throwing out millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. There also remains some exploitation of workers and child labour. These are serious issues that the whole palm oil sector needs to step up to address because it doesn’t have to be this way."
We are also on our way to package all our spreads in crystal in order to reduce the use of plastic in our products.
NO ADDED SUGARS:
Harvard Health speaks about the effects of Excess added sugar in our system: "In a study published in 2014 in JAMA Internal Medicine, Dr. Hu and his colleagues found an association between a high-sugar diet and a greater risk of dying from heart disease. Over the course of the 15-year study, people who got 17% to 21% of their calories from added sugar had a 38% higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease compared with those who consumed 8% of their calories as added sugar.
Consuming too much added sugar can raise blood pressure and increase chronic inflammation, both of which are pathological pathways to heart disease. Excess consumption of sugar, especially in sugary beverages, also contributes to weight gain by tricking your body into turning off its appetite-control system because liquid calories are not as satisfying as calories from solid foods. This is why it is easier for people to add more calories to their regular diet when consuming sugary beverages.
"The effects of added sugar intake — higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes, and fatty liver disease — are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke," says Dr. Hu."
