Our products are made in a traditional way in our own factory, Panacella Factory is located in Vilafranca del Penedés (Spain) and everything is packaged in a Special Employment Center in the that we collaborate to help people with disabilities.
The Panacella Factory is a traditional factory specialized in the production of chocolate in its different forms and modalities: spreadable creams, snacks, toppings... We believe in the production of healthy products that are incredibly tasty and exquisite at the same time that go beyond flavor and taste, our goal is to awaken emotions in people.
HOW DID PROTELLA START?
The Protella® brand was born in 2017 in response to market demand for chocolate products made in a sustainable way and suitable for those people concerned about healthy eating habits. After months of research with one of the most expert maître chocolatiers in Spain, we developed a line of products with very distinguished flavors and quality.
Before Protella, the common thought of the market was:

WHAT WE STAND FOR
1. SUSTAINABILITY: NO PALM OIL.
According to the WWF: "Palm oil has been and continues to be one of the main drivers of deforestation of some of the world's most biodiverse forests, destroying habitat of already threatened species such as the orangutan, pygmy elephant and Sumatran rhinoceros.This forest loss, coupled with the conversion of carbon-rich peat soils, is spewing millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Exploitation of workers and child labor also persist. These are serious issues that the entire palm oil industry needs to address, because it doesn't have to be this way ".
2. HEALTH: WITHOUT ADDED SUGARS.
Harvard Health discusses the effects of excess added sugar on our bodies: "In a study published in 2014 in JAMA Internal Medicine, Dr. Hu and colleagues found an association between a diet high in sugar and an increased risk of dying from heart disease.Over the course of the 15-year study, people who got 17% to 21% of their calories from added sugar had a 38% increased risk of dying from cardiovascular disease compared to those who consumed 8% of their calories as added sugar.
Excessive consumption of added sugars can raise blood pressure and increase chronic inflammation, two pathological pathways for diseases from the heart. Excessive consumption of sugar, especially in sugary drinks, also contributes to weight gain, as it tricks the body into turning off its appetite control system, because liquid calories they are not as satisfactory as those of solid foods. That's why it's easier for people to add more calories to their usual diet when they consume sugary drinks.
"The effects of added sugar intake - higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes and fatty liver disease - are linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke," according to Dr Hu.

The cells of our body use amino acids to build proteins, and thanks to them tissues, enzymes, hormones, antibodies and some neurotransmitters are formed. Therefore, proteins are essential for the formation or repair of muscles, bones or other tissues.
